Getting Started

Getting started with a blog -- just another Knicks fan coming out of hibernation after the Isiah Thomas nightmare years. I've been following the Knicks since Clyde and Pearl when I was little, but the name of this blog is "bandwagon" for a reason -- I've fallen in and out of love with the team, despite being a massive basketball fan for over twenty years.

I've always favored running teams that move the ball and score a lot, which meant that I followed the stereotype and mostly preferred West Coast basketball to the more ostensibly physical East Coast variants. (Among my favorite non-Knick teams were the '80s Lakers,  the Seven Seconds or Less Phoenix Suns, and the Run-TMC and B-Dizzle teams of Don Nelson). When Mike D'Antoni was announced as the Knicks coach, I was jumping out of my seat. I finally decided to get off fairweather fan status, invest in League Pass to watch Knicks games more regularly (I haven't lived in NY for a while), and I'll be making the trip to Madison Square Garden this winter to see my first games there since grad school.

There are already a lot of good blogs that cover the Knicks and the NBA (some of my favorites are listed in the sidebar); this blog is really more of a journey for me to examine (and re-examine) my passion for a team I rooted for as a child, and for a game I've played and loved for so many years.

It will be mostly Knicks talk here, but as a big basketball fan, I'll drop little bits about other teams and games occasionally, especially in my Twitter feed on the right. I can be also be followed on Twitter as bandwagonknick. Thanks for reading!
