Holiday Message

Just wanted to thank everyone that's come by to read or comment on the latest entries, and apologize for the lack of updates lately. I've been traveling in Asia the last week and will be out of the country until after Christmas. Now I'm crazed enough to have tried League Pass Broadband International, because my basketball withdrawal has been intense (and I've popped in on Twitter from time to time), but unfortunately wonky wifi and cell networks in the countries I've been in means it's been a chore to try to watch the games. (It took me over 3 hours to watch the collapse against the Bobcats at an excruciating frame rate, for example, and no one should be subject to that kind of punishment)

I promised a post on Nate Robinson breaking down his play this year compared to last,  and it looks like it will have to wait until just before or after the Christmas holiday, which may be just as well, given all the drama lately. Quick take: I feel bad for Nate, and I suspect there are some non-basketball related factors at play in his recent exile. But I firmly believe that there are very sound basketball reasons for his current exclusion from the rotation as well, and I'm fine with what the coaching staff has chosen to do.

As for the team, I managed to catch all of the first Bobcat game and the win against the Clippers as well. As expected, the team is still a work in progress, and very up and down. There was optimism in some corners about the team approaching .500 based on the reasonable schedule in December and January, but I personally feel that optimism isn't quite warranted. My expectation is that the Knicks will linger around six to eight games under .500 for most of January -- I'd be happy with a little luck and getting to four games under.

Anyway, more to come...and how about Jonathan Bender? Could be a fluke, and his knees may not hold out, but even on the wonky feed I watched online, watching him lead the comeback in the Clipper game was something special. I'm rooting for him more than any Knick on the roster right now.

Happy holidays everyone!
